Connection & Attachment

We are social animals. We are meant to connect. But sometimes that’s a struggle.

Maybe it stems from your attachment with your parents, resulting in anxious or avoidant attachment patterns. Maybe it stems from a trauma, which can disrupt connection. The resulting behaviors may show up in relationships as trouble with boundaries, co-dependency, difficulty asserting preferences, and people-pleasing. This can extend beyond our romantic relationships, and include friendships and work relationships. It can also be seen in how we connect to ourselves — as a struggle to be comfortable alone.

To help improve connection to yourself and others, I use aspects mindfulness and narrative therapy. These, combined with Radically Open Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, can help foster the thoughts and actions that lead to meaningful relationships.
